watch this space for news about jeremy hinzman
Jeremy Hinzman's lawyer, Alyssa Manning, is in federal court today, trying to have Jeremy's deportation order stayed. This happened with Corey Glass, the day before his scheduled removal, and Corey has since won leave to appeal. In the intervening time, there has also been a very positive decision in Josh Key's case, regarding a soldier being forced to participate in human rights violations or war crimes, and an individual's right to refuse such activity. Because of this, we are hopeful - we are trying to be hopeful - that today's decision will be positive. But we know it may not be. We don't expect to hear anything before day's end. There's an emergency meeting tonight, so I may have already left when the news comes down, in which case Allan will update the blog.
breaking news: jeremy hinzman deportation order has been stayed!
We've won another round!! A federal court judge has stayed the deportation of war resister Jeremy Hinzman and his family. Jeremy's lawyer can now apply for leave to appeal. YES!! More news later tonight or tomorrow morning, after I attend an emergency meeting. For now, enjoy the victory. [Apologies for causing any confusion - or heart attacks - earlier. I hit "publish" instead of "draft".]
These are very eloquent pictures.
ReplyDeleteI glad that Buster is so well loved.
I'm sorry for your pain.
Thank you, L. That's a very sweet thing to say. I know you've been there too.
ReplyDeleteThat.
ReplyDeleteIs.
So.
Precious.
I've seen the pain too. My simpathies to you both. I guess it's best to have only great memories of your little loved one. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry for the pain, I know Buster's a central part of your life. My sympathies to you both.
ReplyDeleteOh guys, I'm so sorry for what you're going through right now. I've just read through what I've missed for the last couple days, and I'm sitting here sobbing. This is what I frickin' hate about having dogs... yes, it's inevitable but it still sucks.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that really strikes me though is what you've done for Buster - like GIVE him life. My god, not many people can deal with dogs with issues like that. You've given him as normal a life as he can have, and I sure hope you know you are making the right decision for him. You seem to always have done what's in Busters best interest, and will continue to do what is best for HIM.
And he sure seems to have brought a lot of joy in your lives. You can see his loving gaze in these photos. Sweet boy. Take care.
